SUMMARY:CHRISTMAS CLOTHES AND PARTY FOR KIDS
DESCRIPTION:Growing up\, there were times when my family had so little money\, there wasn’t enough to buy clothing (My parents literally had to choose and food always came first) \nIn fact\, at any given time when I was a child\, I never owned more than a few “okirika” and pass-me-down clothes from my older siblings. \nThough I was a very understanding child\, I didn’t bother about clothes so much\, but there were times when it was hard. Not having new clothes depressed me the most during holiday festivities\, especially on Christmas day. \nI’d stand outside our house staring at other kids who wore new clothes wondering why I couldn’t be like them. Many times I went to my mom in tears\, feeling I wasn’t beautiful because I didn’t have new clothes. \nShe would try to pacify me\, promising things would be different the following year. Rarely did those promises come true. \nI know what it’s like not to feel beautiful\, especially on Christmas day. I know that new shiny clothes would have made me feel pretty especially on Christmas day. \nBecause I know what it feels like to be without\, in my heart\, I now carry a devotion to provide clothing to less fortunate children\, especially at this Christmas time. Seeing them wear something shiny and new makes me feel proud and happy. \nIt’s so fulfilling to see their smiles. \nEVERY Christmas since 2021\, JumokeCares Foundation has provided Food\, Clothes\, Gifts\, and Fun for over 3000 kids

SUMMARY:PAD IT DRIVE
DESCRIPTION:I started my period when I was about age thirteen. For many years\, I used tissue paper as my “sanitary pad.” Sometimes I cut old clothes into small pieces and used those as sanitary pads. I used these “alternatives” because buying “real” sanitary pads was impossible. \nIn the first picture below\, I am the 3rd girl from the left in the group photo with my classmates. On the day the picture was taken\, I remember being on my period. To protect against leaks and stains\, I lined my underwear with a piece of cloth and some folded tissues. (I kept extra rolls of tissue in my bag so I could change regularly. The purpose of the piece of cloth was to prevent leakage to my underwear.) \nAs was true for most students\, I had a clique of friends with whom I went everywhere (the cafe\, the playground\, and even the toilet during break time). I never felt free to use the toilet with my friends around because I would have been too embarrassed if they found out what I used for protection. \nI know there are many girls like me out there\, unable to afford and/or access proper supplies with which to manage their menstruation. \nEarlier this year\, JumokeCares Foundation took 200 sanitary pads to the girls at my old school(Command Day Secondary School) I know amongst them there will still be girls like me who don’t have access to or cannot afford to buy sanitary materials. \nThe health teachers and other hygiene instructors explained the importance of proper hygiene during menstruation. \nLooking through the pictures taken I can feel myself in their shoes. \ninto the eyes of the girls to whom we spoke\, I could feel myself in their shoes.

SUMMARY:Cereal
DESCRIPTION:Most children have a fondness for cereal\, and I share that enthusiasm. As a child\, l yearned for it\, likely due to its varied flavours\, crunchy texture\, and delicious taste. \nIn reality\, my childhood breakfast seldom consisted of cereal rather of garri\, (granulated cassava) occasionally sweetened with sugar or nuts. \nCereal’s scarcity made it a coveted treat. Sebi they say deprivation fuels cravings and I recall eagerly accepting cereal from a classmate\, despite my mother’s instructions to never beg or collect things from others. \nJumokecares Foundation periodically distributes cereal boxes to children in need. Recently\, over 200 boxes were delivered to Ogun state \nAmong the recipients\, some likely shared my longing and I relate to their excitement. \nThrough Jumokecares Foundation’s cereal distributions\, I see parallels with my own experience. Receiving cereal was a rare delight\, inspiring hope that those children will pay it forward –
